I write. Occasionally poetry and what one might call literary fiction, but more often than not, speculative fiction. The blank page is a magical thing, a ticket to anywhere in space-time; when I take that journey, I want the destination to astound me.
Generally, most of my stories are set on Earth–it’s a pretty wondrous place, after all. Best planet I’ve been to. But I do like to play with time; most of my stories are set in the near future, as I think science fiction’s greatest strength is its ability to analyze current trends and extrapolate, to give us a glimpse of what the future will hold. The history of science fiction is the history of prophesy.
When not writing on trees, I work on them, as an ISA certified arborist. Before that, I was a forest firefighter on US federal hotshot crews, and before that, a tour guide in China. But I was a writer then, too. I’ve traveled a fair bit, but I still think the greatest journeys are those we take on the page, either through our own ink or another’s.
So come, have an adventure with me. I promise, I’ll make it as fun as I can.
